A new audiovisual program about the shortest and longest days of the year.

Inspired by the seasonal cycles that guide life in Nordic countries, Skammdegi/Náttleysi is a work-in-progress evening-length program for piano and percussion composed by Hafdís Bjarnadóttir and Marta Forsberg. Skammdegi and Náttleysi are words taken from the old Icelandic calendar that respectively refer to the shortest darkest days, and the longest nightless days of the year. These unique arctic light cycles are an experience that is shared only by those living in the north most regions of the world, yet they speak to each person's own experience with the darkness and light in their own lives.
